Frequently Asked Questions

Are you open?

We are open 9am to 5pm, every day of the year except Christmas day.

Do you have food?

Yes, we have Cheese platters and Charcuterie (meat) platters available every day. We recommend pre-booking these online to ensure you get one as they sell out most days. They cannot be booked after 9am on the day of travel though.

We also have a coffee bar that serves light cakes (e.g. scones), both hot and cold drinks, as well as ice blocks.

Do you serve lunch?

No, we do not serve lunch meals. We do have grazing platters and light cakes available.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes, you may bring your own food, but it cannot be consumed in our undercover seating areas, only outdoors in various beautiful spots around our grounds (weather permitting).

We do not have BBQ facilities.

Do we have to book?

We recommend booking all experiences online prior to travel. You can book platters, maze entry and wine tasting in advance. This is especially important in relation to our grazing platters, which can be booked up until 9am on the day of travel, as they can sell out. For groups of 10 or more, it is essential to book wine tasting in advance.

Groups smaller than this can come in for maze visits and wine tastings until 4pm without booking, but booking is encouraged.

Is our time limited in the maze?

No. You may enter the maze as many times as you wish and take as long as you need to (within business hours). When booking online you just select a start time.

Last entry to the maze is 4pm to ensure you have enough time to enjoy it fully prior to close.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

No. We are fully licenced. We serve a wide range of wine and local craft beer.

Strictly no outside alcohol can be brought onto our premises.

When is your music day?

We have live music once a month on the 2nd Sunday of every month. Entry is usually free, except in the case of special events such as our annual grape stomping competition in February or our special Mother’s Day event in May. See our ‘What’s On’ page for more.

Are you dog friendly?

If it is possible to leave your dog at home or at your accommodation, we ask that you don’t bring them. If, however you are travelling with your dog we won’t turn you away but ask that your dog is supervised and kept on a leash at all times, away from our undercover seating areas and not in the maze.

Do you sell your wine in bottle shops?

Yes, but only in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.

What is the condition of the road?

The last 4km of road to us is gravel. It is regularly maintained in a good condition and accessible in all weather.

Is there a shuttle bus?

No, but alternate transport options include Indulgence tours, Dvine Tours, Port Bus, Wauchope Taxis, Port Macquarie Taxis, and Hastings Shuttle Service, or for a more spectacular entrance try Epic Rides and Tours, Affinity Helicopters or Port Macquarie Helicopters.

Do you have accommodation?

No. The closest accommodation is in Wauchope, Port Macquarie and the Camden Haven Area.

What else is there to do in the area?

Plenty! The Port Macquarie-Hastings area is filled with natural wonders, great hikes, beaches,  lookouts and waterfalls, as well as various other attractions and activities, such as the nearby Billabong Zoo or the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. For more information see the Port Macquarie Visitor Information site.

Down the road from Bago Maze and Wine is a short bush walk to the “old Bottlebutt Tree” in Burrawan State Forest, and the nearby town of Wauchope (10-15 min drive) offers cafes, art galleries, boutique shopping, playgrounds,  as well as the heritage theme park Timbertown.

Can you host weddings?

We can only host daytime (10am to 4pm) weddings and receptions of up to 60 people. Any related services, such as wedding planning, decorations, or catering (beyond our grazing platter options) will need to be sourced from external businesses. We do not provide these services ourselves.

Please note, any outside catering will need to have their own preparation facilities (e.g. food van) as we do not have onsite kitchen facilities available.

Of course alcoholic drinks are provided from our extensive range of wines and beers.

Can we have a tour of the winery?

Unfortunately we cannot provide tours of our winery, however you can stroll through our beautiful vineyard at your leisure (during business hours).
