Meet Our Newest Vintage: The Story Behind the 2025 Tannat

Every vintage has its own personality.

Some years challenge you, others surprise you, and every now and then, everything comes together just as you'd hoped. For me, the 2025 Tannat is one of those wines.

Tannat has always been a variety I enjoy working with. It's naturally bold, deeply coloured and full of character, but it also rewards patience. Given the right care in the vineyard and time in the barrel, it transforms into something beautifully balanced and incredibly rewarding to drink.

That's exactly what we've aimed to achieve with this vintage.

After harvest, the wine spent more than twelve months maturing in oak barrels. This slower approach allowed the firm tannins to soften naturally while preserving the rich fruit that makes Tannat such a distinctive variety.

The result is a wine with depth and elegance.

Pour a glass and you'll notice its deep crimson colour before aromas of ripe raspberry, blackberry and dark chocolate begin to emerge. On the palate you'll find generous dark fruit, subtle spice and a long, smooth finish.

This year we've also blended in a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon—around ten percent—which brings additional balance and structure without taking away from Tannat's unmistakable personality.

For me, this is one of our finest reds to date.

It's a wine that's equally enjoyable beside the fire this winter as it is tucked away in the cellar for the years ahead. If you enjoy bold Australian reds with plenty of flavour and a refined finish, I think you'll appreciate what this vintage has to offer.

A Small Release

As a family winery, we produce wine in small batches, and this release is no exception.

We've bottled just 66 cases of our 2025 Tannat.

Our previous release sold out, and while every vintage is unique, we expect this one to be equally popular.

One of the pleasures of making wine on a smaller scale is being able to focus on quality rather than quantity. Every bottle represents a season's work—from the vineyard through to the cellar—and it's incredibly rewarding to finally share it with those who appreciate handcrafted wines.

Perfect Winter Pairings

This is a wine made for slower moments.

Pair it with:

  • Slow-cooked beef or lamb

  • Rich winter casseroles

  • Chargrilled steak

  • Aged cheddar or hard cheeses

  • A square of 70% dark chocolate to finish

Or simply enjoy a glass beside the fire with good company.

There's no better way to experience a new vintage than where it was grown.

Secure Your Bottles
